Generic Acomplia

Acomplia (Rimonabant) is used to combat obesity by decreasing appetite and improving glucose and fat metabolism. Through its selective CB1 endocannabinoid receptor antagonistic action, Acomplia blocks the receptors that increase appetite, particularly in those who over-eat due to emotional responses.
During clinical trials Acomplia has out-performed expectations in the areas of weight loss and waist measurement reductions. Acomplia also has proven to improve HDL cholesterol, triglyceride and HbA1C (a diabetic marker) levels. These results indicated that Acomplia can help reduce the risk of serious, chronic health problems such as Type II Diabetes and heart disease.
Acomplia should be used as part of an overall treatment plan that includes diet and exercise. Use of Acomplia in those who have had gastric bypass has not been evaluated. Those with a waist circumference of greater than cm (or 40.2 inches) in men and 88 cm (or 34.6 inches) in women tend to gain the most benefit from Acomplia use.

Acomplia may also be beneficial in the reduction of addictive behaviors including alcohol, opioid, cannabis, and tobacco dependencies. Acomplia may work as a front-line smoking cessation aid. Right now, more studies are being conducted on Acomplia’s “off label” uses.
Adolescents and children should not use Acomplia as certain psychiatric complications may be increased in these age groups. Those with underlying depressive disorders should not take Acomplia because of an increased suicide risk associated with this medication. Since Acomplia has such wide spread CNS and digestive effects, it should not be used by women who are pregnant or nursing. Those with altered liver functions, allergy to Acomplia (or any component – including lactose), other chronic health issues or that are on other medications (including over the counter medications) should consult their physician about the risks and benefits of Acomplia.
In clinical trials Acomplia was fairly well tolerated with most of the initial side effects fading over the course of treatment. However, some psychological side effects should be reported immediately to minimize potential complications. These side effects include severe mood swings, suicidal thoughts or action and hallucinations. Other, more common side effects of Acomplia use include: nausea, vomiting, insomnia, dizziness, poor balance control, tendon pain, back pain, muscle spasms, excessive sweating, fatigue and increased bruising.
Acomplia comes in 20mg tablets that should be swallowed whole each day before breakfast. If you are diabetic, consult your physician about your glucose management and monitoring strategies while on Acomplia. Any unusual effects of Acomplia use or any questions about how your treatment is going, should be reported to the physician immediately.
